Worship With Us

Although we do not identify as a high church, you will find the familiar Eucharist liturgy and have the opportunity to receive communion at the altar.

We are proud of our diverse community. You are welcome to wear whatever you feel comfortable in, whether it’s “church clothes,” jeans, shorts, flip-flops, or any other attire you can think of. We come together to meet the Lord, not to conform to a dress code.

We would love to meet you!

Sunday Worship Schedule

  • 10:30 AM – Morning Prayer
  • 10:30 AM – Holy Eucharist

Who We Are

In 1979, a few families in Leeds became tired of commuting to Birmingham to attend an Episcopal church, so an organizational meeting for a new parish was held shortly before Christmas. The idea to open a church in Leeds took hold.

In 1980, the first service was held on Epiphany Sunday, at the Leeds Presbyterian Church. Later, services were held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church until Epiphany had permanent building. Bill and Ruth Brazil donated land, and the parishioners built the church with their own hands. On December 24, 1981, Epiphany celebrated Christmas in the still uncompleted building. Surrounded by the bare walls, warmed by kerosene stoves, the air filled with the scent of fresh straw, these few determined members gathered around a small wooden creche and celebrated the birth of Jesus.

In 1991, Epiphany added a mobile home and remodeled it for a parish hall. With the Diocese’s help, Epiphany purchased more land. Two years later, the parishioners began planning to build a new worship space. Our parish has come a long way. The original building now serves as our parish hall, where we host a variety of events and classes.

About Us

The mission of Epiphany Leeds is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. Our vision is to be a church that is united through Christ in loving God and our neighbor.

Discerning and Searching

Our rector retired at the beginning of this year, and we are actively discerning God’s plan for our parish and our new rector.

This season brings us the opportunity to turn our eyes upon Jesus. He is with us in this journey, and we seek to walk in the path where He guides us.

On alternate Sundays, we have Holy Eucharist and morning prayer. This is an opportunity to learn from various priests as well as our members as we offer our own reflections on God’s Word.

Ministries

We’re known around the community as the church with the big red box. The blessing box is where all many be blessed—those who have needs and those who have something to share. The church fills it, our members fill it, and the community fills it.

When placing items in the blessing box, please help us keep it neat with all items in date. Please place only canned and boxed goods in the box. No sweets or opened items please.Anyone who is hungry is welcome. Our only request is that those who need food take just enough for a day or two and leave some for others.

Your Generosity Has an Impact

‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’
